Alphabeat

Alphabeat

Popjustice called them 'the best band in the world ever' - and this 6 piece will more then live up to the hype. Already firm favourites on the European festival circuit, their debut album 'Alphabeat' has gone platinum in their native Denmark. A winning combo of infectious feel good pop and memorably energetic live performances.

The Sunshine Underground

The Sunshine Underground

Described by themselves as simply 'a party band', Leeds band The Sunshine Underground are a fine mix of indie and dance music infused with electronic beats and bleeps, funky bass lines and epic, rousing choruses. With a particular dislike of playing big venues they prefer small, late night gigs, encouraging a houseparty atmosphere. Admitting themselves that making the same kind of music gets boring, The Sunshine Underground have a different offering in every track and, in their own words are '...four lads writing music because they want to and playing it to other people because they want to hear it'.

Howling Bells

Howling Bells

Lurching from blues-fuelled rock to country folk lamentations, Howling Bells produce a sound drenched in warm feedback and dried in the desert sun. Drawing inevitable comparisons to the likes of PJ Harvey, vocalist Juanita Stein's delivery is silky, sultry and utterly intoxicating.

Goldie Lookin' Chain

Goldie Lookin' Chain

With more razzle-dazzle jewellery than Mr T, this novelty rap act from South Wales manage to make The Streets' Mike Skinner appear positively middle-class. The 15 chavs that make up GLC were somehow signed to independent label EastWest on the dubious strength of a handful of tracks that had been burnt to CDR and passed around the pubs of Newport. Now, armed with songs about smoking weed, shagging monkeys and, erm, 'cider enemas', they are headlining gigs around the UK.

VV Brown

VV Brown

Vanessa Brown, aka VV Brown is a singer, a songwriter, a performer, multi-instrumentalist and a producer. She describes her music as 'doo-wop indie whilst traveling on a rocket to outer space'. Passionate, music-obsessed and real.

Kid British

Kid British

Kid British create their own noise by mixing a bit of this with a bit of that and ending up with one big fat manky sandwich. A tasty shank of old school ska and dancehall, a generous twist of indie, a light splash of reggae, and garnished with a juicy slice of electro pop.

Wallis Bird

Wallis Bird

Singer-songwriter with enough funk to give KT Tunstall or Sandi Thom a real run for their money. Sweet, soulful and delicately punk, Wallis Bird is the ultimate female hero.
