At Victoria Park, London
Saturday, 1 August 2009
From 11:30am until 10:30pm

Brought to you by London's most adventurous and daring promoters - Eat Your Own Ears, Adventures In The Beetroot Field, Bugged Out! – Field Day will bring you the most cutting-edge line-up of bands and DJs in the 2009 Festival season. The heart of East London will be transformed into a Village Fete; a Village Green area within the festival will supply the masses with some countrified fun and games away from sound systems and stages. Try your luck on the tombola, crack a few nuts on the coconut shy - or just sit on some haybales and stuff your face with homemade cake. Inspired by summer sports days and country fetes - Field Day's very own village green will host stalls and activities throughout the daytime, ranging from sack-racing, to whack-the-rat, Bowling for Bacon and lots more to be announced. See www.fielddayfestivals.com for further information.

Mogwai

Mogwai

Four Tet

Four Tet

The solo electronic project of Kieran Hebden of post-rock band, Fridge. What you get here is a beguiling and baffling journey into sound; a mixture of folk-inflected electronica and lo-fi murmurings incorporating elements of jazz, techno and hip-hop. His first two releases were NME singles of the week and his 2005 album, Everything Ecstatic has secured him the title of King of folktronica.

James Yorkston

James Yorkston

'A thousand times more haunting than anything the New Acoustic Movement ever dreamed of' said the NME. Indeed Scottish musician James Yorkston's music is haunting, but there is something else in his music which lifts him above the average acoustic singer/songwriter. At times he sounds like a rat-pack crooner, the next like a scottish balladeer, and just when he's got down to his quietest, most fragile moment he'll break into one of the loudest acoustic guitar intervals you're likely to hear. James Yorkston is diversity at it's best, with all the quality of tradition and excitement of the new.

Born and raised in Falkirk, Scotland, Malcolm Middleton first found fame as a prominent member of Scottish lo-fi folk group Arab Strap. Middleton's solo career, which he ran alongside Arab Strap until their split in 2006, has provided a perfect outlet for his personal, harrowing and heartfelt songwriting. 'While his morale languishes somewhere in a cold Falkirk bedsit, melodically his songs whoop from mountain peaks.' – Observer Music Monthly.

Santigold

Santigold

Formerly known as Santogold, the lovechild of submarine sonar and low frequency midnight moans, Santigold was born somewhere between Bedstuy and Bushwick, Brooklyn and was placed under the care of enigmatic singer and songwriter Santi White. Santigold drives dub and 80's pop influences from song to song. Sometimes basement rock, sometimes Bananarama-soundclash, Santigold is a vehicle for White's well drawn late night fight lines and robot-witch scat on the beat. Warbling bass, island upbeat, and deep-south snap provide foundation for White's whispering lilts and tension-ridden verses.

Mystery Jets

Mystery Jets

'Perfectly formed pop' (Bugbear). A band who manage to do something new with the rock sound. Their music is unusual and boundary pushing, but luckily they have the technical prowess to pull it off, sometimes mastering kitchen utensils as well as more standard instruments.
