She has been a frequent supporter of social and humanitarian causes since appearing at Nelson Mandela's 70th birthday concert in 1988.

Hot new singer/songwriter from New York - discovered by Peter Gabriel no less - with a brooding, pensive style, kinda Cohen and Waits meets Beck with beats. The tunes are generally slow to mid-tempo, built from simple chord progressions and driven by a powerful, versatile voice that blends bits of Jagger, Dylan, Bowie, and Stipe. Arthur's lyrics tend to be blunt vignettes about the struggles of love and faith.
