More Information

Dizzee Rascal -

Underground dance master who stunned the UK garage scene with his debut album 'Boy In Da Corner' and single 'I Luv U' in 2003, both of which warped the sound into something dark, disturbing and deliciously innovative. The addition of the 2003 Mercury Music prize may be the first accolade of many.

For more information, see the website

Edwyn Collins -

Edinburgh-born singer/songwriter who fronted indie pop group Orange Juice. Their 1983 hit single Rip It Up somehow failed to spark the expected step into megastardom, and it wasn't until 1994 that Collins got his second hit, the awesome A Girl Like You from his Gorgeous George album. Fame has stubbornly shied away from Collins since, but he remains a massive cult hero in his native Scotland.

Operator Please -

Sons And Daughters -

Scottish four-piece making punkish, dark indie influenced by Iggy Pop, Jesus and Mary Chain and Leonard Cohen. Hailing from Glasgow, their music is a romantic exploration of the culture from which they were born and fuses rock and pop to produce dark and delving modern punk.

For more information, see the website

The Duke Spirit -

Post-punk five-piece fronted by the enigmatic Leila Moss. With a definitive ‘don’t-give-a-damn’ attitude, The Duke Spirit simply ooze cool in the geeky unknowing way that Sonic Youth or The Velvet Underground did before them. Duke Spirit’s sound is a more modern, up-to-date version of their predecessors angsty guitar led punk, but there are certainly comparison’s to be made – in Leila’s drawling vocals and the bands thrashing guitars. The Duke Spirit are the kind of band that will make music history, maybe not for doing anything big, but simply for being around and making the kind of quality music that will stick in the minds of music fans for years to come.

Santogold -

The lovechild of submarine sonar and low frequency midnight moans, Santogold was born somewhere between Bedstuy and Bushwick, Brooklyn and was placed under the care of enigmatic singer and songwriter Santi White. Santogold drives dub and 80's pop influences from song to song. Sometimes basement rock, sometimes Bananarama-soundclash, Santogold is a vehicle for White's well drawn late night fight lines and robot-witch scat on the beat. Warbling bass, island upbeat, and deep-south snap provide foundation for White's whispering lilts and tension-ridden verses.
