More Information

Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. -

Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, aka Southend boy Sam Duckworth, has gone from strength to strength since the world sat up and took notice after an open mic session in late 2005 caught the attention of Radio One's Huw Stephens. Fusing softly punk vocals and simple acoustic melodies, GCWCF appears to have stumbled across a formula that has seen critics and fans alike, bowing at his feet.

I Was A Cub Scout -

Simply sweet lo-fi from Nottingham two-piece I Was A Cub Scout, who make electronic lullabies laced with post-punk vocals and eighties synths. '…a rousing, rambunctious package of disco-pop joy, wrapped in punk-rock language and indie electronica.' – Drowned In Sound

Vincent Vincent and the Villains -

Not many groups can claim to have risen from the ashes of an 'all-cardboard rock'n'skiffle band', but this is the case for Vincent Vincent and the Villains. A few years after the dissolution of that particular outfit, founder member Vincent is back, this time playing fantastic new style rock with a fifties twist. The current band also features Alex Cox, Tom Villain and Will Villain.

Lovvers -

Hardcore Nottingham rockers, making punked up blues and garage-soaked thrash, with a reputation that far precedes them… 'Not since At The Drive-In stole the show at the 2000 Carling Festival has this reviewer wet his pants or inhaled the contents of his own windpipe so many times in twenty minutes.' – Drowned In Sound.

Peggy Sue and The Pirates -

Brighton duo Peggy Sue and the Pirates are the latest in a long run of MySpace stars, whose music reflects that of Coco Rosie, Joanna Newsom and Antony and the Johnson; 1920's rhythms, haunting vocals and gently twisting melodies, drawing the listener in slowly but surely, and proving the worth of the internet for distributing raw, new talent.

The Brunettes -

New Zealand boy/girl duo helped out by a few friends. Male-female vocals, chugging guitars, playful keyboards, and glorious harmonies manage to combine numerous elements into simple, straightforward, actual songs. Signed to Sub Pop (CSS, Postal Service, The Shins).
