Eighties indie heroes whose majestic songwriting haunted a generation of bedsits and student pads. Re-formed in 1997, and still fronted by the inimitable Ian McCulloch, there's every cause to celebrate the Bunnymen's return.

Ever present in the charts and ever popular with fans, The Charlatans have lived through the Madchester era and are still making wonderful indie-pop tunes on the other side. Pendulum (2) -

Formed in 2002 by three people from Australia, Pendulum create intelligent drum & bass, a sound that has dancefloor impact but also a deeper resonance. Their seminal single 'Vault' won Knowledge Magazine's 'Best Single of 2003' award, they now also work with Adam F and DJ Fresh under the umbrella - Breakbeat Kaos. Their DJ sets consist of fresh tunes, big beats and twisting basslines. The future of drum & bass...?

Bobby Gillespie and Co have come a long way in over a decade together, the ambient indie rock sound of 'Screamadelica' becoming something far darker and experimental with the recent 'Exterminator'. Whatever they record, their sheer class is always undeniable.

Scottish four-piece making punkish, dark indie influenced by Iggy Pop, Jesus and Mary Chain and Leonard Cohen. Hailing from Glasgow, their music is a romantic exploration of the culture from which they were born and fuses rock and pop to produce dark and delving modern punk.
