More Information

Capercaillie -

One of the very best celtic folk-rock bands around mixing traditional Celtic melodies with contemporary rhythms to create the unique and dynamic Capercaillie sound.

Martyn Joseph -

Cardiff's acclaimed singer songwriter has been described by Q Magazine as 'somewhere between Mark Knopfler and Chris Rea, with touches of Springsteen grit'. But in many ways he's an incomparable performer with an uncanny knack of fusing fearless, full-bodied 'songs with a message' with fragile love songs, producing rollercoaster performances of true light and shade. Voted 'Best Male Artist' in the 2004 BBC Welsh Music Awards, he has one of the most powerful voices on the acoustic circuit, a string of Top 50 hits to his name (including Dolphins Make Me Cry) and regularly tours in the UK, USA and Canada. 'One of the most charismatic and electrifying performers in Britain today' – Tom Robinson, BBC 6

Show Of Hands -

Steve Knightley and Phil Beer are widely acknowledged as the finest acoustic roots duo in England. Knightley, who writes most of their inspired material and Beer, a dazzling multi instrumentalist, have built up a huge following which has seen them sell out the Albert Hall three times and headline at major festivals from Glastonbury to WOMAD. Voted Best Live Act in the 2004 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, the jury is still out on just what kind of music they play. A genre defying mix of rock, roots, blues, country, trad, and often influenced by the music of other countries, it is played out on an array of instruments from slide guitar to fiddle, mandolin to South American cuatro. 'Formidable operators in the roots arena. A class act' The Independent

Huun Huur Tu -

Huun Huur Tu's jaw dropping trademark sound derives from the use of overtone 'throat-singing- techniques which were invented by nomadic hunter-herders of the invconceivably remote steppes and mountains of Tuva in Siberia. Huun Huur Tu were one of the first groups to combine them with ancient acoustic stringed instruments and percussion to thrilling and otherworldy effect.
