More Information

Chris Helme

Chris Helme -

Formerly with The Seahorses and The Yards now with a chilled-out acoustic show drawing on Dylan, Van Morrison and Tim Buckley.

Howling Bells

Howling Bells -

Lurching from blues-fuelled rock to country folk lamentations, Howling Bells produce a sound drenched in warm feedback and dried in the desert sun. Drawing inevitable comparisons to the likes of PJ Harvey, vocalist Juanita Stein's delivery is silky, sultry and utterly intoxicating.

King Creosote

King Creosote -

Otherwise known as Kenny Anderson, Fife based electronic/acoustic folk demon King Creosote started his career as a musician as the singer/songwriter with Skuobhie Dubh Orchestra and Khartoum Heroes.

Nina Nastasia

Nina Nastasia -

Hearing her voice is like being wrapped in silk sheets and slowly rocked into a blissful state of peace and relaxation. She is compared to Nick Cave and PJ Harvey, but Nina Nastasia has a dark, unnerving strength all of her own. The US has produced few original singer-songwriters so in touch with its contemporary condition.

Noah & The Whale

Noah & The Whale -

Energetic popsters from London whose proficient songs and live sets employ beautiful harmonies and elements of folk and bluegrass to good effect. Their hit song '5 Years' Time' is sufficient to reel in any potential fan, as their packed-out gigs would suggest.

Royworld

Royworld -

Melodramatic indie-popsters suitable for those who like Talking Heads, Roxy Music, The Hoosiers or Kaiser Chiefs.

Supergrass

Supergrass -

Back in 1994, this then teenage trio released their debut 'Caught by the Fuzz' and quickly followed it with a string of infectious, energetic anthems including 'Alright', which reached number two in the UK charts. With songs about meeting girls, smoking dope, and generally being young, the band seemed to provide the perfect backdrop to the Summer. Those looking for some Brit-pop nostalgia more than ten years on need look no further than one of Supergrass' forthcoming live gigs. All together: 'We are young, we run green'...

The Coral

The Coral -

With an original mixture of ska, pop, punk and blues, all tied up with insanely catchy melodies, The Coral are one of the most exciting bands to come out of Liverpool in years. Their eponymously titled first album gained widespread critical and popular acclaim, and many thought them unlucky not to receive a Mercury prize nomination. Future releases should set that oversight to rights.

F*** Buttons

F*** Buttons -

F*ck Buttons bring new sensibilities to the obscure art of noise. Using severely distorted children's keyboards, guitar, vocals and piezo contacts on metallic surfaces, they create a searing, painful yet passionate sound with interesting underlying aesthetics and a compelling stage presence.
