2005 Mercury Music Prize nominee Seth Lakeman is a dynamic young Devon musician and one of the fastest-rising stars on the folk roots scene. His album 'Kitty Jay' was launched in front of an audience made up of inmates at Dartmoor Prison and was voted Time Out magazine's No 1 Folk / Roots album of 2004. Formerly with the wide touring and popular band Equation, Lakeman was nominated for two awards at the 2005 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards - Best Newcomer (Horizon Award) and Best Original Song (for the Kitty Jay title track). He fronts his own band, together with brother Sean Lakeman, one of the most accomplished six string guitarists in the UK and Ben Nicholls, the versatile acoustic double bassist.
