More Information

New Young Pony Club

New Young Pony Club -

Formed in 2004, minimalist eighties-influenced punk-dance band New Young Pony Club have gone from strength to strength. Influenced by the likes of Iggy Pop and Blondie they make synth based pop topped with sexy scrawling vocals from lead singer Tahita. ‘…like Debbie Harry singing over a Frankie Knuckles tune played by Joy Division.’ - AngryApe

Caribou

Caribou -

The artist formerly known as Manitoba, offering up a likeable blend of electronica and sunshine pop. Their live set sees them deliver a carnival-esque whirl of ridiculous melodies, effusive noise, stampeding beats alongside furiously harmonised vocals. Two drummers, visuals and whirling guitars and keyboards create a claustrophobic, mesmeric soundscape akin to My Bloody Valentine and the sprawling, bucolic tour de force, like early Mercury Rev.

Casper C -

Bloggers Delight DJ.

Fulborn Teversham -

'The mindblowing new group of Seb Rochford, the extraordinarily in-demand and prolific drummer/composer, leader of Mercury Music prize nominees Polar Bear, and winner of BBC Jazz award for Rising Star 2004. The line-up also includes Pete Wareham (Acoustic Ladyland, Polar Bear) on saxophone, Nick Ramm (Cinematic Orchestra, Clown Revisted) on keyboards, and vocalist Alice Grant (also with Leafcutter John). The group pursues a more eclectic, less overtly jazz direction than Polar Bear, incorporating elements of electronica, Henry Cow-style prog and post punk. With clever balancing of cosmic and acoustic sounds, Fulborn Teversham offer up an intimate and thrilling improvisational punk jazz chamber music for the future.'

Holy F*** -

Holy F*ck started with a simple concept, to mimic modern, electronic music without using modern fail-safes like laptops and programmed backing tracks so they armed themselves with a drum set, a bass guitar, a myriad of toy keyboards, guitar peddles, mixers and even a 35mm film synchronizer and hit the stage. NME named them as one of their top 3 performances when they appeared at Glastonbury.

Peggy Sue and The Pirates -

Brighton duo Peggy Sue and the Pirates are the latest in a long run of MySpace stars, whose music reflects that of Coco Rosie, Joanna Newsom and Antony and the Johnson; 1920's rhythms, haunting vocals and gently twisting melodies, drawing the listener in slowly but surely, and proving the worth of the internet for distributing raw, new talent.
