Snow Patrol

Belfast alt-rockers who've dominated the UK indie rock scene since their breakthrough success with the album Final Straw and the single 'Run' reaching #3 in 2003. From there, Snow Patrol have taken their sound into powerpop territory and even scored a place on the soundtrack to Spiderman 3 with their hit song 'Signal Fire'.

Scissor Sisters

Scooping a trio of Brit Awards on all counts possible in 2005, the Scissor Sisters have come from nowhere (well, New York. Not quite a hamlet in Wiltshire) to become one of the most unique and popular bands in recent years. Musically, they seem to cut and paste (excuse the puns) influences from all over the shop, from Pink Floyd to The Bee Gees. A refreshing blow to an otherwise sterile pop scene, flooded with an excess of monotonous dance tack, the Scissor Sisters bring with them a vibrant flavour of their native New York sound. Delving beyond the realms of novelty, they have also demonstrated a successful diversity to their music, which should ensure that they are more than just a fluorescent flash in the pan.

Kings Of Leon

Tennessean alt-rock group comprised of three brothers and a cousin. The Kings Of Leon take their titles very seriously, producing country-laden rock’n’roll with hints of blues and boogie-woogie. Brought up in the Deep South and having spent most of their childhood’s travelling, the Kings Of Leon (whose name comes from the brother’s father and grandfather) have a deep, drawling, rootsy sound and a suitable legacy to match.

The Fratellis

The Fratellis

Angular, spiky rock'n'roll with a hint of the indie and another hint of the pub. The Fratellis have been accurately described as 'T-Rex crossed with the Libertines' by the Barfly in their hometown of Glasgow. They are a three-piece (Barry, Mince and Jon), utilising the time-tested combination of guitar, bass 'n' drums to create their infectious and energetic rock music.
