What readers are saying aboutBarfly, Cardiff» See forthcoming events |
Hidden on the edge of the city centre, opposite the castle, it's easy to miss the small doorway that leads to one of Cardiff's best music venues.
The Barfly is a cellar that holds just a couple of hundred people, giving every gig an intimate atmosphere.
The best thing apart the Barfly, though, is undoubtedly their knack of booking bands that are just about to make it big. Pretty much every British indie-pop band that's made the charts over the last few years seems to have played here.
The only real downside is the pillars around the venue that tend to block your view of the stage.
This is a good live music venue. Apart from the pillars, other problems are rubbish toilets and no easy disabled access.
Once you're in the sound is good and there's a good atmosphere. The staff are generally pretty good too.
