Hidden behind the main part of Sheffield's city centre is a music venue made of the stuff others can only dream of. Home to legends and locals alike, the Boardwalk is Sheffield's very own Cavern, a fifty year old music venue that has seen some of the greatest acts in music history pass through its doors, and is still going strong in the 21st century. First, a little history lesson for all you budding musos. Known at various times as the Black Swan and the Mucky Duck, The Boardwalk has seen Genesis, AC/DC, the Sex Pistols and the Clash (their first gig!), and more recently David Gray and Ryan Adams perform onstage. The Boardwalk is hallowed ground, and as such deserves regular pilgrimages from anyone who wants to hear great music.
