I first saw STG when they supported The Goo Goo Dolls in Sheffield on 7th July '08 and I was massively impressed with their energy and stage presence. They were visually entertaining and sounded fantastic, their music combining some really melodic riffs with elements of punk and really hard rock. Their album 'Scatter The Crow' is a good showcase for the range of sounds they produce, although it can't compare to seeing them live! Last year they won the Kerrang! Best British Newcomer award which, in my opinion, they fully deserved. They toured later in 2008 with Aiden, and the Icelandic band Sign, and I travelled as far as Stoke on Trent specifically to see STG (as well as seeing them at gigs closer to home), which is quite a recommendation as I live in Somerset and would normally only travel that sort of distance to see artists that are big enough to only do a few gigs in large venues as part of a world tour, such as The Rolling Stones, Metallica, Alice Cooper etc.Since then they have had some problems with their management and/or record company so have not been able to capitalize on their initial success and have lost the momentum that should have carried them to the very top. Having sorted out these problems they have been working on a new album which I am really looking forward to, and hopefully they will also get back on the road where they will almost certainly impress a whole load of other people with their talent! Also, they are four of the nicest guys you could wish to meet, really friendly and appreciative of the support of their fans.
