What readers are saying aboutThomas Leeb» See tour dates |
Thomas Leeb is a fingerstyle guitarist whose repertoire includes his own highly original compositions, traditional tunes, and occasional covers of Guns 'n Roses, Bjork and Bob Marley songs. Along with players such as Michael Hedges, Alex de Grassi, Eric Roche, and Andy McKee he continues to bring new dimensions to contemporary acoustic guitar music. His technique is characterised by percussive elements generated by tapping the guitar body with the heel of his hand or single fingers while playing intricate fingerstyle patterns. The richness of this style is enhanced by a multitude of tunings and frequent use of harmonics. Much of his work is rhythmically complex and meticulously worked out.
Thomas himself calls his music "the b*stard child of acoustic guitar", combining unusual techniques, ideas and harmonies with an underlying tongue-in-cheek attitude.
I have attended Thomas' summer school and several workshops and concerts. As well as being an exceptional performer he is a warm and unpretentious individual. An opportunity to see him in action is one not to be missed! Visit www.thomasleeb.com, youtube or myspace.
