Supports from Team Waterpolo & Golden Silvers, The Wombats take to the stage with 'Tales Of Girls & Boys'. With the three Liverpudlian lads standing around one microphone singing, the crowd go mental. 'Kill The Director' - a re-release from their debut album 'The Wombats Proudly Present..A Guide To Love, Loss and Desperation' make's the crowd go insane and there's already people having to leave the crowd from the movement and the heat. Murph, telling the crowd to go mental everytime '1.2.3.4' is said and with no suprise its said as soon as there next song is kicked in - 'Lets Dance To Joy Divison' . Chilling out with a few new songs, the crowd calm down. With the crowd crowdsurfing and forming slight moshpits, nearer the end of the night, The Wombats are happy.
An electrifying performance.

Good show.  Didn't know many songs (got dragged there by the bird) but the music was pretty good.  The Wombats came on about 9.30 and played a thrashing 55 minute set, with popular song (eg the one's I knew) Moving to New York and Let's Dance To Joy Division.  Only complaint was the venue.  It's ok, but not the best i've been to, mainly because the floor was so f***ing sticky!!! Like jumping on chewing gum for an hour!! But overall a very good band, who I'd go see again.

The wombats appeared on stage at 9:30, the crowd awaiting. Appearing on stage, Tales of girls, boys and marsupials was sung and the first sing song of the night began. The band then ripped into kill the director and a crush insued and i myself found myself being pushed around, a real shock considering i wasn't expecting this sort of gig. Kill the director was a brilliant start to what was going to be a very high quality set. Album tracks such as School Uniforms, Party in a forest and then lost in the post were sung with the crowd milking the guitar laced indie pop that was being played. Moving to new york was bang in the middle of the set and really got the crowd dancing like the indie kids we all were. A real classic song and certainly a highlight of the set. More album tracks, My first wedding, here comes the anxiety and Patricia the stripper were played to a top quality standard and the crowd were definately loving The Wombats. The final song before the traditional encore was going to be Let's dance to joy division. This was fantastic and firmly instated this set into the crowd's head as the whole set was apitimised by the energy and sheer quality of the band tonight. During the encore, a giant inflatable wombat appeared at the front of the stage, a strange ironic yet comic touch from the band, to prove that they are in the music business to have a good time not to become the serious mugs we so often see today. The final two songs were played, the last of them being current single, Backfire at the disco which was a fantastic way to end a brilliant night.

Overall, a giant sing-a-long from one of the britain's new wave of indie bands. A very enjoyable night and money very well spent.

9/10
