I feel as though I've been shortchanged slightly. This show had absolutley no structure and the Boosh team - who have earned a reputation for surreal and original comedy - seemed content to simply repeat jokes and songs from the show without putting any thought into any kind of storyline or new material.
Saying that, the crowd seemed to enjoy this, hollering at the very mention of old characters. The first half of the show was basically a roll call of these characters who, in turn, repeated their catchphrases from the show before exiting. The audience lapped this up, awaiting an appearance of their favourite personality whilst feeling obliged to shout of their affections for the cast.
The second half of the show started with some promise. Howard introduced a play about the future of the planet and the show looked as though it had gained some much-needed structure. This material also seeemed to be entirely new and was - at times- entertaining and funny. However, this did not last.
With a full backing band in tow, Howard and Vince then proceeded to perform some of the songs from the show, like a greatest hits tour. Don't get me wrong, I adore the songs of the show. In some kind of context though. When an episode breaks into a humorous song involving the various characters, it adds something to the show that other shows seem to lack. There is no doubting that the Boosh have a knack for writing songs that are both entertaining and hilarious. The problem here was that the songs were reeled off without being in any way related to the show. Again, the audience cheered for this and sang along but it is not quite what I expect from a comedy show. It is quite obvious that the guys want to be rock stars and comics, but the two do not mix well when there is no storyline.
Some of the witty banter between the 2 stars was rather funny. Vince's constant put-downs aimed at Howard always raise a smile and there was even some decent responses to those in the crowd who felt the need to shout 'I love you' every 2 minutes. But overall, the show was vastly disappointing. Any hardcore fans would love it, as all of the favourites are regurgitated for the sake of the live performance. However, this is what I feel let the show down. Having bought the tickets over a year ago, surely the guys have had the time to write some new material?
inevitably a DVD will emerge from this and inevitably the fans will buy it. The merchandise stand appeared to be doing good business and, with an 'aftershow party' at £10 a ticket along with further tour dates in January, I can't help but feel that the Mighty Boosh are content with making their fortune by ripping off their loyal fans, without bothering to prepare anything new for them. The loyal fans appear to enjoy it though so if you fall into this category, I'm sure you will enjoy this show. If not, expect to be disappointed.

The Boosh are an acquired taste, like marmite, you either love them or you just don't get it. Personally I love them and this live show didn't let me down. For Boosh fans this has everything you could want. There's the double act banter, the characters, the costumes and the music, there's even some crimping (although I would have liked more).
I've seen reviews criticising the lack of plot, and it's true that this show has a less structured feel to it than the last tour, however I don't think it loses anything because of it. In fact it feels like it's evolving in front of you. Noel Fielding and Julian Barratt feed off the vibe of the audience and each other beautifully and take you with them as they jouney to the futchaaar, and other wonderful places.
The only slight dampener on the electric atmosphere was the ridiculous hecklers and their stupid interruptions (always superbly dealt with by Noel and Julian).
The merchandise was plentiful and beautiful, so if you go to the show (and I strongly reccomend you do) take plenty of cash.
All in all an unmissable event for all Boosh fans.

It’s not every day that Noel Fielding walks past you, smiling, when you are having coffee. But I didn’t believe this to be an ordinary day.
Our group arrived at Riverside Studios a little bit early so we decided to have drinks in the studio bar. It was immediatly obvious that there was a constant presence of Boosh charaters which really got my heart racing! It wasn’t just Noel or Julian either. Rich Fulcher, who plays the eccentric character Bob Fossil in the show, actually came over and spoke to us. As more Boosh fans arrived however, the comic geniuses seemed to disappear. A wise choice we believe. Having said that Dee Plume from electro band Robots in Disguise was present in the pre-show excitement that filled the bar area.
It seemed like no time at all before we were being called into studio two where the performance was going to take place. I had resigned myself to the fact that we probably wouldn’t get front row seats due to the shear volume of Boosh fans that had queued up outside the studio. But to our amazement that is exactly what I got!!
The show begun with a performance of ‘Future Sailors’ with Noel entering on a grand make-shift pirate ship and Julian having to put up with a pathetic little yellow dingy. The Boosh didn’t in anyway disappoint with their performance. Yes, ok due to it only being in the practising stage there were a few script kinks to iron out. However, I believe that added to the whole atmosphere of the performance.
During the first half, which lasted about 45 minuets there was a whole menagerie of characters both well known and not so. Tony Harrison had his own chat show, Rudi performed an edited version of isolation and techno mouse made his stage debut (in a matchbox). The laughs were constant so much so my mouth actually began to hurt!
Before long it was the interval followed by an admittedly short and abrupt second half. The whole story was based around the whole ‘green’ subject that everyone is currently talking about. However Noel, in his ever flamboyant style, found his own way to take the metaphorical p*ss out of Julian’s ‘concern for the planet’.
The curtains opened to reveal Julian in what can only be described as a ‘potato sack’ toga reading off of a script. The second half must have only lasted five minutes finished by Noel saying point blank “And that’s about all we have… what now?”
Having said that it was after the performance that really made my day. As people started filing out of the studio we held back to have a drink in the bar only to then be joined by the cast. I got to meet everyone, not only the Boosh characters but also Dee and Sue from ‘Robots in Disguise’, Richard Ayowade from ‘The IT Crowd’ and Paul King the director of the Mighty Boosh. My personal highlight was getting to talk to Noel himself. And what a lovely, genuin person he is!
All in all I definatly think it was a worth while venture and I cannot wait to see the Boosh live on tour!!

first half was just introductions of characters and the second half was poorly prepared and not very funny. The show was overall pretty dissapointing with very little content.
The only funny thing was the banter between Noel and Julian.
Still they will make alot of money from it

The Mighty Boosh are always slightly off beat, and this was no exception. Absolutely hilarious. The starting banter was fantastic - always one of my favourites. The music was fantastic, with a live band. The material was mostly from the third series - the last live show was based on the first two series' - with few additions.
The plot is quite bizarre and easily lost, but in all honest that's not really what you come to see. Its all about the laughs, and there were plenty. Quite a gut workout! Even the 'mistakes' were hilarious.
