First elected in 1950, a member of every Labour Cabinet from 1964 to 1979, former Party Chairman and now a Visiting Professor of Politics at the London School of Economics - Tony Benn, broadcaster and author, has decided to leave parliament to devote more time to politics! His latest volume of diaries was published in 2002, and 2004 saw the publication of his memoir, Dare To Be A Daniel.

I was born in the same year that Tony Benn was elected to Parliament and since the mid 1960s I have followed his career, his writings, diaries and speeches with great enthusiasm.
