If there was any band that had reason to be weary in the least of heading on stage it would be Limp Bizkit. For a few reasons, namely because of Machine Head (always a tough act to follow) fans chanting the expected "F*** Limp Bizkit" and possibly showering the band with an array of boos and bottles (remember Summer Sanitarium - Chicago?). But as soon as the music hit and the original line up began forming on stage starting with DJ Lethal, the total opposite had happened.

After their storming performance at Download this year, the band continued their momentum and high stakes energy at Sonisphere opening with 'My Generation' - a perfect hit for reacquainting with the fans. Wes Borland, one of the main creative forces within the band didn't miss a step with his white body paint, blue-dyed hair and effortless communication with the crowd. Sam Rivers played bass like his life depended on it and that's a compliment to his obvious dedication to every track played during the set. DJ Lethal remained flawless keeping the set intact with his scratch interludes and a focused John Otto on drums. Fred Durst was on top form and at one point coming off stage for the right reasons - joining the fans at the front row. He also took time to address his respect for Machine Head and Nine Inch Nails which was followed by the track 'Hot Dog'.

The set closed with a blistering performance of 'Take A Look Around' where Fred Durst asked the crowd to join in by kneeling or sitting down before the song would erupt for the final chorus. The crowd without hesitation did so, contributing to a great performance. A true highlight of the event along with perhaps the most emotional set from Nine Inch Nails.

This band are just fantastic live.  I really enjoyed the performance, and recognised more of their songs than I thought I knew.  The lead singer has a great attitude and the crowd loved the gig.  Limp Bizkit have a very distinctive look and sound, and I definitely want to see them play live again in the future.  Their show was one of the highlights for me of the second day at this great festival.

Limp Bizkit completely stole the weekend. Beforehand there was a feeling that they would be hated, evidenced particularly in Machine Head's set, the 1 minute chant of 'F*** LIMP BIZKIT!'. I was rather worried they'd be bottled, but nonetheless I was looking forward to them. I even skipped Feeder (a band I like very much) to get a brilliant spot for them. And I did!! Right at the front the crowd was brilliant! At no point was the crowd still! It was like one giant moshpit, the actually moshpits just even more insane. This was fuelled by Fred Durst hyping up the crowd brilliantly and the huge jumpdaf***up riffs which filled everyone with adrenaline. They even appeased the enraged Machine Head fanboys with DJ Lethal's wearing of a Machine Head T-Shirt and Fred bigging up Machine head. The few fanboys at the beginning chanting just had bottles thrown at them and were shouted down.I believe Fred even said 'F*** you" to one who shouted 'F*** Limp Bizkit'. He was an energetic frontman and when he came down during Eat You Alive the crowd just went all kinds of crazy. Everybody knew every word to every song and they were just jumping about, horns in the air, screaming them. Nine Inch Nails' slow set afterwards didn't even begin to follow up their incredible show. Possibly the best band I have ever seen live and I have seen some great live bands!! Limp Bizkit Family Forever!! \m/O\m/

For me, The best artist that played at Download Festival 2009. I've been so eager to see Limp Bizkit, even when I was only 10 when I heard "The Chocolate Starfish and The Hotdog Flavored Water". Now at the age of 19 I was ready to relive the Nu Metal days. Limp Bizkit will never disappoint, if you want adrenaline pumping, raging music then this is it.
