I'm a lifelong Steely Dan fan and was delighted to hear that Nearly Dan were around, so I went to see them, hoping that they would be OK. They were better than OK, they were terrific, and I've now seen them several times.
They play the wonderful music of The Dan, but do not attempt to copy the records (thank heavens for that, even SD don't do it), they just give their excellent interpretations of the songs. Great music, played lovingly by great musicians... can't be bad, eh?
See you at the next ND gig at The Jazz Cafe in London.

Saw Nearly Dan at Mr Kyps, Poole, Dorset, 25th April 2009. What an absolutely fantastic night. Steely Dan themselves should be honoured to have their style so meticulously brought to life. I loved Steely Dan in the 70's, it has taken me 30 years to rediscover their genious, and now Nearly Dan has captured their unique blend of jazz & rock totally, completely & fantastically. A brilliant & gifted band. I would love to see the real thing but this is very, very Nearly Dan as good as the real thing.
