"F*ck the rain!" shouts Airbourne singer Joel O’Keeffe.

Murmers and gasps begin to emerge from the gig-goers as the topless singer begins to effortlessly climb the tall, slippery wet rigging at the side of the stage, with his guitar slung over his body. He plays a perfect guitar solo whilst hanging off the metal construction, as if it’s something he does every day, swings around for a bit, and - much to the organiser's relief I imagine - climbs safely back to the stage.

Airbourne have arrived, and they're going to make us rock, whether the weather wants us to or not. And we do (rock, that is).

Storming through crowd-pleasers such as Stand Up For Rock and Roll and Running Wild, and gaining new die-hard fans with album tracks like Cheap Wine, Cheaper Women and Blackjack, from start to finish the Airbourne set is a blast of no-frills, no mercy rock and roll, and the crowd loves it.
Even though we have water dripping into our shoes, onto our faces and under our feet, we all stay put and rock out even harder, defying the British weather that threatens to dampen our spirits and ruin Airbourne's set.

Airbourne are proof that true rock and roll never dies, that it’s in your heart, and that all you need is a bit of bravery, a carefree spirit, and oodles of talent.

There were so many big-name bands at Sonisphere 2009, it was an amazing weekend of heavy-metal and rock. A dream come true for me, and I'm sure many metal/rock fans.  Of course I was blown away by the spectacular performances by Anthrax, Metallica, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit...the list goes on... but I would have to say that the highlight for me was discovering a new band that I can fall in love with.  Airbourne!! What an absolutely brilliant, entertaining live set from an energetic young band.  I had never even heard of them before Sonisphere.  The lead singer is an exceptional rock frontman.  He has a great voice, bucket loads of charisma and is a complete lunatic!! (In a good way!).  He walked onto the stage swinging a bottle of whisky, then halfway through the set he climbed the rigging at the side of the stage and continued to play his guitar whilst up there.  Then he swang on the bars at the top of the rigging as if they were monkey-bars! When he climbed down, he went into the crowd and got onto one of the security guard's shoulders, piggy-back, and continued to play the guitar!  He was also opening beer cans by smashing them on his head!! This band play fast energetic rock music, similar in style to AC/DC.  The anthemic 'Stand up for rock and roll' sticks in my mind from the show.  I was left grinning at the end of the performance. I am now a fan.  Airbourne have a lot of energy and know how to put on a great show; and they definitely know how to please a rock'n'roll crowd!

Saw them at Sheffield after seeing one of there videos on Scuzz - had never heard of them and now cant get enough. Absolutely Brilliant live - and even for a small unknown band (for now) absolutely brilliant 100% rock and roll show. Imagine AC/DC 20 years ago - just brilliant fun, great skilled musicians and Rock anthems - i suggest you see them in a smaller venue whilst you still can.

Well, I had not much idea what to expect from Airbourne, had probably heard just 1 or 2 of their songs on Planet Rock and liked them, but I have to say they were fantastic. The AC/DC influence is plain to see/hear, unsurprisingly, but they are a good band in their own right - energetic, just pure rock and roll.

My heart was in my mouth but a massive smil on my face as we watched Joel climb the rigging and then play a stunning solo, in the rain.

Loved it, absolutely loved it, would go again just for them!
