The atmosphere was electric at the front waiting for AIC to come on, they took the stage and went straight into Angry Chair, only they could get away with starting with something as slow as that, but as a classic AIC grind it was the perfect choice.
The first thing we noticed was how perfectly the new singer, William DuVall's voice blended with Jerry Cantrell's voice in the same way that Layne Staley's used to. That isn't to say he was a clone of his predecessor but very much had a character of his own and a real stage presence.
The next 40 mins saw them stomp through all the old favourites drawing heavily on Dirt with a couple of new tracks from the forthcoming album thrown in. From where I was it seemed that every member of the crowd sang along with every word, it was like standing in the middle of a narcotically depressed Welsh male voice choir! They finally gave into the crowds demands and finished with an emotional rendtion of Rooster, leaving the stage with the crowd still singing the closing vocals. [less]

The marquee was packed and both band and audience were making plenty of noise.
In classic rock hero style, Lemmy wandered on to the stage, grinned at the audience, then ripped into Iron Fist, Stay Clean followed hard on it's heels then they hammered through a set spanning their entire million year history.
Mickey Dee attacked the drums with his usual endless energy and gave us probably one of the longest and most entertaining drum solos I have seen.
They finished with Bomber (I think) and left the crowd screaming for more. They of course obliged and came on and did a bluesy acoustic number with Lemmy on the harmonica, Mickey Dee and Phil both on acoustic guitars, Mickey even managed to play a little bass drum and a high hat with his feet.
They ended the night with Ace of Spades and Overkill. Motorhead have been playing the Rock n Roll game for a very long time now and boy do they play the game well. [less]

I thought it was a joke when I saw Bjorn Again in the line up for Sonisphere, but I like a good boogie so I went to watch them.
There were lots of metalheads stood arms folded scowling at the stage, also not really getting why they were there. After the first couple of songs Bjorn starts chatting with the crowd, "I would like to thank Metallica for asking us to be here. however I get the feeling that not all of you are devotees of satin pop, so here is something you might know the words to." They then ripped into a perfect rendition of Enter Sandman, needless to say they won the crowd at this point.
Great band and great entertainment. [less]

We saw Imelda May in The Big Top, we bought her album a couple of months back after hearing Mark Radcliffe raving on about her, it's a great album so we were pretty excited about seeing her. She played a few tracks off the album and a few we hadn't heard before starting with Feel Me and ending on Johnny Got A Boom Boom. For the encore she did an amazing version of Tainted Love and then ended with Rollin. The place was stomping and we met a few people over the weekend who said they had never heard her before and caught her quite by accident and loved it. The nice security guard even gave me a set list at the end. :) So in full the set went:
Feel Me
Love Tattoo
Don't Do Me No Wrong
Big Bad Handsome Man
OH Darling
Wild About My Lovin
Proud N Humble
Sneaky Freak
Smotherin Me
Watcha Gonna Do
Psycho
Mayhem
Johnny
Tainted Love
