Smarter than you might expect with soft seating around the edges of the room. Not a blood and guts rock'n'roll venue but one of my favourites never the less, partly due to the excellently stocked bar. Great sound but a low stage so if it's busy us shorties have to get there early or crawl through people's legs to the front.
The Club Fandango nights here are highly recommended. [less]
Live Review of
Gandalf Murphy & The Slambovian Circus Of Dreams
by Steve M from Chesham
The most enjoyable gig I'd been to in ages. Hard to describe why they’re so good but stage personality is just right and guitar and drums are superb. Enthusiastic crowd added to the atmosphere, as so often at these 100 club Friday night events. Basically an Americana style band... [more]

The most enjoyable gig I'd been to in ages. Hard to describe why they’re so good but stage personality is just right and guitar and drums are superb. Enthusiastic crowd added to the atmosphere, as so often at these 100 club Friday night events. Basically an Americana style band at heart but the occasional English prog and classic rock influences masterfully extend the scope of the sound. It's all beautifully played but they don't take themselves too seriously and audience participation in a yodelling song was elicited easily. [less]

ULU (Barfly),
London

This venue can have a great sound, provided you stand forward of the balcony. The bar is badly stocked and slow when busy so get your drinks in first at the nearby Northumberland Arms!

The 100 Club is my favourite venue. It's a small, underground venue at 100 Oxford Street, and despite having two thick pillars near the stage there's no other place where I feel closer to the music. The place hasn't changed in decades. Legendary figures have played here, and still do...... [more]

The bar is pretty good, quick service and very drinkable Flowers IPA if you like your real ale.
Gigs often start and finish fairly early here so don't tarry in the boozer beforehand! [less]
Live Review of
It Hugs Back
by Steve M from Chesham
A fourpiece on this occasion - don't know if that's a permanent change. The sound balance favoured the guitars and drums over the vocals, giving this band a much harder edge live than I'd anticipated from recorded tracks I'd heard. There was plenty of Gedge-esque guitar strangling and if you're... [more]

The sound balance favoured the guitars and drums over the vocals, giving this band a much harder edge live than I'd anticipated from recorded tracks I'd heard. There was plenty of Gedge-esque guitar strangling and if you're a Weddoes fan you might well take to this lot. I liked 'em, but I'm glad I'm not the guitar tech... [less]
