I have been a fan of The Eagles for over 30 years, have always loved their music but was never able to see them live. I finally had the opportunity to see them perform at The O2 arena in April and it was a night I will never forget.They were on stage for over 3 hours , first and second halfs together and sang every classic hit plus material from "Long Road out of Eden" the sound was perfect and the band were excellent, completely at ease with their audience. It's not every day of the week that you get to see true music legends,tickets were a bit pricey but they were everything I expected and more, Don Henley has a voice that just rocks,I had tears of sheer joy in my eyes when he sang "Desperado" and "Hotel California ", hope they
return soon. [less]

I have been lucky enough to have seen Neil Diamond live eight times and each time has been a unique and unforgettable experience.
He has to be one of the world's foremost live performers and gives his all to his audiences for well over two hours at every show. This year I attended his concerts at ther NIA at Birmingham and also at Cardiff Millenium Stadium and although there were thousands in the audience Neil addressed each and every one of us. Neil is the ultimate showman but never above his audience he is definitely with his audience as one. Singing along and dancing is essential to most songs,all his hits are legendary and he just rocks around the stage on numbers like "Cracklin Rosie" and "America" wowing the crowd. The ballads like "Hello","Play Me" and "Love on the Rocks" just flow out of Neil in his wonderful gravely voice, lyrics delivered with every ounce of emotion. This year we were also treated to songs from his recent highly successful album "Home before Dark" one of his most successful ever including an awesome arrangement of "Pretty Amazing Grace".Neil has a fantastic band of excellent musicians behind him and they themselves are almost an act in their own right sounding fantastic.. It is clear that Neil and his band are closer than close, this comes straight over to the audience. he always performs "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" with one of his backing singers Linda Press and without any disrespect to Miss Streisand their version is equally as good.
The best memory of 'audience participation' I can recall is "Sweet Caroline" at Earls Court when, after singing it twice with the band and Neil,all of the 17,000 plus audience proceeded to sing the whole song back to Neil without any music- what dedication ! Neil appeals to young and old alike and anyone who buys a ticket for his show is guaranteed to have a good time. His finale is always "Brother Loves Travelling Salvation Show", Neil never fails to perform this to perfection and you always leave with a feel good factor and eagerly awaiting the next time the Diamond Roadshow rolls into town. I have seen Joe Lonthorne in concert a number of times and can honestly say that he has been absolutely amazing and brillant on every occasion. His talents and pure genius are gigantic and in every sense of the word he is a true STAR of the British entertainment industry and I would say the biggest !! In my book Joe has to be this country's finest singer and variety performer,he has the most amazing voice 'straight from the gods' and is always "live" with a great band of very talented musicians behind him. I have been lucky enough this year to have a seat a very short distance from Joe performing and the power and perfection of his voice is second to none, the phrasing and delivery of every line of every song done to perfection.For me he stands alongside the world's great all time male singers and song stylists- a rare breed but this is truely the class Joe belongs to. However,aside from hearing Joe sing in his own magical voice, he performs the most amazing perfect impressions of everyone from Sinatra to Manilow and Diamond to Mathis and Bowie,often having three or four characters going at the same time! His impersonations of Bassey and Garland are astouding and legendary and have to be seen and heard. Joe has an amazing gift for comedy and can have his audience in stiches in a second, his take on 'Dickinsons Deal' this year a real gem. As a musician he is extremely gifted and on occasions he treats his audience to some great piano playing, he is incredibly versatile. When one looks at the length of Joe's showbiz career, over 35 years in the business and singing since a small child, the most incredible thing is that he had to battle leukaemia for many years whilst carrying on entertaining and performing until 2005 when he underwent a bone marrow transplant.He has fought back to fitness magnificently carrying out nationwide tours in 2006,2007 and 2008 together with prestige appearances at the London Palladium, including wowing the audience at the recent 70th Birthday Tribute to Don Black and at venues abroad including recently a unique sell out concert at the ancient Kourion Ampitheatre on Cyprus.Having seen him twice only last weekend at the North Pier Theatre Blackpool I can report that he is looking wonderfully well and on top form on stage. He is a remarkable special man who has never forgotton his roots and always has time for his fans. I would recommend that anyone who has not experienced "Longthorne Live" buys a ticket for his next tour, they will not be disappointed. [less]

I have to commend The Osmonds on their performance at their concert at Cardiff Arena back in May 2008. Yes I was a big fan of The Osmond Family in the early seventies as a soppy teenager and will admit that I still have my original 45s and LPs.I bought a ticket to see them live this year as it was a rare chance to see the whole family perform together and Alan is not a well man. They did the whole show without any support act and the audience did not sit down once! The arena was full to capacity 99.9% female and all of us of a certain age although for that one night we were all "14" again!
I would give them ten out of ten for musical ability, professionalism and performance. Slick,well rehearsed and wonderfully at ease with their audience,even some dance routines, a well organised stage presentation ensuring that everyone could have a good view of them. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute, think that the tickets were reasonably priced. [less]

I went to see Dolly at Cardiff with my 18 year old daughter who is a big fan. Never having seen Dolly live before we were looking forward to the evening without thinking about all the obvious things which are said about Dolly in the press.The audience were aged from 8 to 80 with every gender represented. Taking our seats we eagerly awaited the show, lights dimmed and the band came on, very good and very professional and then there was Dolly, looking exactly as you would expect. She proceeded to entertain us for a good two hours through 2 or 3 costume changes, she made us laugh and she made us cry with her haunting ballads and emotional words, I was astounded at the lengths of her talent, sounding excellent on belting out her songs and multi talented playing many different instruments.
I did not want the show to end and came out feeling totally impressed by what I had seen, Dolly was amazing, and a true superstar.I will certainly be back in her audience the next time she tours the UK. [less]
