Recommendation for Dreadzone
by Roxy

Went to see Dreadzone last night at Manchester Academy. As the first gig of their new tour, they atmosphere was electric and they did not disappoint!
The crowd was pretty diverse from students to an older demographic but all were moving to the Dreadzone trippy dub sounds within minutes.

The crowd was pretty diverse from students to an older demographic but all were moving to the Dreadzone trippy dub sounds within minutes.

Dreadzone also showed their social conscience with a song about knife crime which was really relevant in these times.

Support came from local Dub act in Manchester so i guess they give all local acts a chance in each city they play which always gives a good edge to support acts.

Have seen Dreadzone at a festival before where people heard the music and kept coming in to the tent to find out who they were...think this is the vibe Dreadzone create and everyone who has seen them remembers the ace time they had and come back for more!!

All in all a great gig which i'd recommended to anyone who wants to get their feet moving!! [less]

Ali left UB40 in January 2008 and formed new exciting reggae band Dep - which has former UB40 member Mickey Virtue on keyboards. I saw them at Trentham Gardens in September 2008 and they were absolutely fantastic - they sang a lot of Ali solo stuff from his albums Big Love and Running Free as well as some classic hits which he sang when he was in UB40 . I really recommend you go and see him when he tours in June - he has a new album out in the Spring [less]

Recommendation for Sonic Boom Six
by Rik

Really really good, mash up of loads of different genres, such as punk and hip hop, with reggae and a little ska thrown in for good measure. Unimitable and brilliant, Sonic Boom Six never fail to entertain. Perhaps the best song to hear to understand their sound would be 'Sound... [more]

Saw the Beat on Saturday and they were great.  I have aged but they have not.,  Still the great sound with Roger sounding better then ever and his son joining him.

Roger did not stop moving on stage throughout and the crowd loved every minute. I was sorry it had to end.

Hurry up and play in Frome again. [less]
