Recommendation for Martha Tilston
by Lisa T from Ystrad Mynach

Martha supported Roddy Frame on his tour, she was a gifted guitar player with a haunting voice that interacted with her audiance and I would love to see her again.  Since seeing her live have gone on to purchase two of her albums which have not disappointed.

This show was the last of Gretchen's European tour. The hall was nearly full and she received a very warm welcome. Gretchen played acoustic guitar accompanied by Barry Walsh on piano. Most of the songs were from the Best of album. Gretchen radiates warmth from the stage giving the concert that camp fire feel. Her songs are strong as was her voice. She played for 90 minutes and provided good value. Definately deserves a wider audience but it is great to be able to see her in a small intimate venue. [less]

Wow. Okay, I wasn't expecting that. I went to see them knowing a lot about Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes) and a little or nothing about the other members of the band. And what a pleasant surprise it was. During the three hour set every member of the band, including the drummer, showed their skills as accomplished multi instrumental musicians, each taking a turn in the spotlight. The range and abilities, and in particular the vocal talents displayed was amazing to behold. [less]
