Snoop Dogg was one of the most famous artists to emerge out of the early 90s gangsta rap scene. 1993 album 'Doggystyle' became the first ever debut to enter the charts at number one, despite Snoop's arrest earlier that year on suspicion of aiding a murder. He spent much of the next few years fighting his case, before finally being cleared of all charges in 1996. The album released that year ('The Doggfather') didn't sell as well as its predecessor, but a stream of follow-ups helped to consolidate his position as a superstar. In addition to music Snoop has been involved in acting, and his autobiography was published in 2001.
