Otherworldly Eastern-influenced music from this talented Arabic artist, whose jazz-flavoured songs are accompanied by the oud (Arabic lute). Tunisian born Dhafer Youssef started singing in the Islamic tradition at the age of 5. His music is rooted in Sufi but has always been open to all kinds of other music and his deeply affecting vocal style and Arabic based compositions are complimented superbly by his partnership with the current generation of new European musicians.
