If the American press are right, then Hem live are a rare treat indeed. Steeped in the history of americana-style folk, yet strangely contemporary too (with indie and rock influences amongst their works), Hem's simple instrumental arrangement is melancholically evocative and, in singer Sally Ellyson, they have a lead vocalist to die for and dream about. Serene and subdued, they're unmissable.
