Toumani Diabete's music is strongly rooted in the Malian tradition, but also open to a wide range of other influences, such as jazz and flamenco. He has always sought out other musicians from around the world who are willing to experiment with him and he played a pivotal role in Damon Albarns Mali Music project and scooped a Grammy for his album with compatriot, Ali Farka Toure.
