Willy Vlautin was born and raised in Reno, Nevada. He has had stories published in such magazines as Zembla,ÝCold Drill, Sun Dog Southeast Review, and Chiron Review. He is also a member of the internationally acclaimed band Richmond Fontaine. He wrote strong story-based songs, which were often compared to the stark short stories of writers such as Raymond Carver and Larry Brown - and could easily stand alone as works of prose. He currently resides in Portland, Oregon. 'Motel Life' is his first novel.
