Named after an Ed Ruscha painting of the same name - the Talking Heads famously used the image for the cover of their Sand in the Vaseline compilation – Various Cruelties is based around Liam O'Donnell. Born in London to Scottish father and an Irish mother (a distant relative of Oscar Wilde) he spent his youth singing at Leeds blues parties and squat run pirate radio stations where he discovered the Clash, The Specials, Etta James, Devendra Banhart and Otis Redding.
