No topic is taboo. Matt rubs audiences up the right way with verses about religious conversions, medical procedures and classified ads. He speaks tenderly of love lost and mislaid, touches gently on haemorrhoids, treads warily round the hole in the sum of his parts and deals admirably briefly with the nature and meaning of time. Poems are interspersed with probing questions such as 'If love can build a bridge, can affection put up a shelf?'...and stories of imaginary friends, mistaken identity, male bonding and the struggle to give up Buddhism.
He is a regular contributor to BBC Radio 4's Saturday Live and for the last two years has written the Desktop Poetry slot in The Guardian. He is also the creator of Empathy Man, who had his own mini series on Radio 4 - "Very funny, very satirical" The Times - and his recent Edinburgh show also garnered excellent reviews.
