An acclaimed jazz vocalist who has been called 'Britain's answer to Norah Jones' by Jazzwise. Many would argue that she is much more. Her music education included playing in a punk band, studying the French horn and fronting a hip-hop outfit, as well as learning how to truly inhabit jazz songs. Inspired as much by Janis Ian and Joni Mitchell as by Billie Holliday or Nina Simone, she's been writing her own material for years and has recorded a CD of originals and well-chosen covers ('Bittersweet And Blue') with help from musical collaborator and co-writer Will Rutter. This wealth of experience makes Gwyneth Herbert an assured performer who fully deserves the accolades being thrown at her.
