Sponsored by Gillette, the Four Nations tournament is a relatively new concept to Rugby League, borne out of the Tri Nations tournament in 2009. When the tournament takes place in the Northern Hemisphere, the winner of the European Cup joins the top three, and when it takes place in the Southern Hemisphere the winner of the Pacific Cup will take part. The competing teams for the 2011 Gillette Four Nations tournament are England, Wales, Australia and New Zealand. There will be no tournament in 2012 to allow teams to prepare for the 2013 Rugby League World Cup.
