Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. artist photo

A lot has happened since way back in 2006 when Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, aka Southend boy Sam Duckworth, began touring in a beat up car with a laptop, guitar and the brace of catchy, heartrending tunes. Following many performances, collaborations and travelling to Nigeria and the Congo as part of Damon Albarn's Africa Express, Sam returns with his fifth album 'Maps', a more happy and upbeat body of work than his previous releases. Where before Sam's love of post-hardcore was evident in his emotive songs, he now seeks influence in his Britpop heroes Blur, The Streets, Super Furry Animals and Gomez. 'Maps' is full of big ideas, sing-a-longs and shouty punk refrains. It should please old Get Cape fans, but also reach new ones.

Have Your Say

I have seen GCWCF perform live at Rhythms of the World Festival in Hitchin. Sam is awesome, he really knows how to please the crowd with a big sound rocking out. I have also seen him at David's Bookshop in Letchworth which is a small intimate venue and he sings… (cont'd) Penny from Hitchin
