Californian metalcore warriors Avenged Sevenfold fuse the pulsating elements of Pantera, Metallica and Maiden with Bad Religion, The Misfits, Guns & Roses and Nofx. They've been hailed by Ultimate Guitar as one of the top ten bands of the decade. Following the tragic death of original drummer James "The Rev" Sullivan, the band chose to carry on and recruited Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater to replace Sullivan for their fifth studio album, 2010's 'Nightmare'.
