Texan band Midlake formed in 1999 after meeting at the University of North Texas. The band were originally influenced by jazz and funk, but after a few band member changes, they began turning their hand to music similar to that of early Radiohead and Grandaddy before beggining to dabble in lo-fi and electronica and seventies vintage-pop. The result is a band who are as diverse as their influences but whose southern charm and imagination constantly shine through. The band have recorded three albums to date and have toured extensively throughout America, Australia and the UK.
