Having formed in 2003, Dublin trio Hal were signed by Geoff Travis at Rough Trade in 2004. The following year saw the release of their eponymously titled debut awash with superlative critical acclaim, numerous awards both at home and abroad and healthy sales. Later, having experienced writer's block, years travelling and rediscovering his innate knack of penning a song, singer David Allen returned to Dublin and again hooked up with his brother Paul and Stephen O'Brien to complete the triumvirate and re-ignite the HAL torch.
