Pendley Shakespeare Festival

In 2014 the Pendley Shakespeare Festival celebrates its 65th year with two very different Shakespeare classics: trouser ripping, laugh-out-loud comedy on the one hand and dark, tear-wrenching tragedy on the other. We present The Comedy of Errors and Hamlet.

The Comedy of Errors is one of Shakespeare's finest and most colourful pieces. The play follows the trials and tribulations of Antipholous and Dromio of Syracuse as they scour the foreign and peculiar world of Epidamnum for their long lost twin brothers Antipholous and Dromio of Ephesus. Needless to say their search doesn't go according to plan and they find themselves in and amongst some rather confusing and hilarious situations.

Hamlet, William Shakespeare's most famous and compelling play. Plagued by the sudden and suspicious death of his father and over hasty re-marriage of his mother, young prince Hamlet is haunted by Old Hamlet's ghost. Roused to investigate further and tear apart the oppressive new king, Claudius, Hamlet embarks upon a destructive and dangerous journey of love, death, betrayal and revenge.

So, decide on a play (or why not see both?!), chose your seats in our new seating stands and prepare yourself for a wonderful evening of Open Air Shakespeare. Gates open at 6:00pm, two hours before the show, leaving you time to enjoy a picnic in the stunning grounds or treat yourself to a meal in the award-winning restaurant. We guarantee that the bar will be stocked, the weather will be unpredictable and the plays will be enchanting. This year will have brand new seating stands with more uncovered seats. So why not be brave and book a seat in the open air? We think it's the best way to enjoy these shows!

This year performances run from Wednesday to Sunday.
The Comedy Of Errors: Wednesday 6th August to Sunday 10th August.
Hamlet: Wednesday 13th August to Sunday 17th August.
