Stresscare - Caroline Keane And Friends
An exhibition of Caroline Keane’s artwork together with her books and poetry focusing on projects in India, Africa, North America, Australia and West Devon. Additionally the artworks resulting from the ten week Stresscare Colour Wheel Self Empowerment Pilot Project being held in Tavistock (Autumn 2012) to aid recovery from severe stress and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) related conditions amongst Uniformed Services Personnel.
Caroline returned from Zimbabwe in 1987 suffering with PTSD following experiences in its civil war. After treatment at the Hostage Centre at RAF Wroughton she became a member of the PTSD Self Help Group and subsequently co-founded The Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Association, known as Stresscare, in 1994.
Caroline trained and studied with world experts in the USA and UK specialising in Transactional Analysis, Self Empowerment Techniques, RTF Interventions, Critical Incident Debriefing and Military and Emergency Trauma services.
She practiced these techniques with veterans from the Vietnam War, and with children and family trauma therapy groups.
The artworks result from the ten week intensive and mixed therapeutic course compiled as a result of Caroline’s MA in Ecology (Of Mind) and Art at Dartington College of Art and Design and Schumacher College
Caroline would like to thank the participants in the pilot for so generously giving of their time and effort to create this fascinating exhibition.
