Red Skies Trio. Line up: Brigitte Beraha (v) John Turville (p) and special guest Bobby Wellins (ts).
These three superb musicians combined specially for the album Red Skies due to be released at the Pizza Express Jazz Club, Soho some ten days prior to this gig. A programme of Jazz and Latin Standards plus other gems to celebrate the release of the new album.
Brigitte Beraha
Playing original melodic contemporary jazz with world and Latin flavours, the Brigitte Beraha Group is an imaginative vocal-led modern jazz ensemble who sidestep obvious standards to tackle lyrical material. The Ensemble, fronted by a vocalist singing songs with lyrics, also becomes an instrumental group when the voice is used as an instrument, allowing to blend in with the trumpet and fluegelhorn so as to create a unique soundscape.

Bobby Wellins
Bobby Wellins has been a significant force in British Jazz since the mid 50s. His playing on Stan Tracey's Under Milk Wood album in 1965 was a major contribution to its seminal status (voted all-time favourite British jazz album in a 'Jazz UK’ readers poll). A keeper of the be-bop flame for many years, his playing now is as adventurous and exploratory as ever.
