Wild Smiles
Hampshire trio Wild Smiles make the sort of fuzzy, messed up yet super-melodic music that can trace its roots through alt legends J Mascis and Bob Mould, the power-pop of Teenage Fanclub and Big Star, all way back to The Velvet Underground and The Beach Boys.
Originally a solo project by vocalist/guitarist/main songwriter Chris Peden, last summer he recruited his brother Joe (guitar/vocals) and Ben Cook (drums/vocals), turning Wild Smiles into a fully-fledged band. With Chris the eldest member at 22, the band have energy and youthful exuberance in abundance - as anyone who has seen their compelling live show can testify
