La Traviata

Violetta is a courtesan who is enjoying the Parisian high-life when, to her surprise, she falls in love. But she cannot escape the consequences of her past life, and circumstances conspire to force her to sacrifice what may be her only chance of real happiness.

This new production from director Alessandro Talevi and designer Madeleine Boyd evokes the brilliance and glamour of Belle Époque Paris which provides the backdrop for an intimate tale of family tensions and blighted passion. Verdi poured some of his most heartfelt music into this deeply touching love story and the result is one of opera’s most profoundly moving masterpieces.
