One Act Double Bill: The Long Road By Shelagh Stephenson / WASP By Steve Martin
WASP by Steve Martin:
In the perfect 1950s suburbia of the good ol’ USA, something is happening: The power of Dad is waning; Mom, Son and Daughter are starting to think for themselves!
An absurd comedy from the Hollywood great sees a family, with the aid of their fantasies, begin to realise that things might not be as idyllic as they appeared. The world is changing; reality will never be the same.
The Long Road by Shelagh Stephenson:
After the fatal stabbing of their youngest son on a night out, a family struggle to come to terms with this senseless murder. As the mother seeks to meet his killer to better understand her actions, the father and son try to negate the trauma as best they can. The young girl that has committed the crime, meanwhile, must face the reality of what she has done.
A harrowing play set in modern Britain, highlighting how one moment can change so many lives forever.
