Never miss another 'The Oxford Philomusica Orchestra' show
Symphonic Schubert: The Oxford Philomusica Orchestra
Schubert Symphony No. 8 in B minor, D. 759, 'The Unfinished'.
Schubert Symphony No. 9 in C major, D. 944, 'The Great'.
Marios Papadopoulos conducting.
The Philomusica celebrates the genius of Franz Schubert with a performance of two of the composer's best known symphonies: the majestic 'Great', and the magnificent 'Unfinished'. The reason for Schubert's abandonment of his eighth symphony six years before his death remains a hotly debated topic, not least because the completed movements include some of the most glorious of all the composer's music.
