Feel It 'Live' 2013: The Stranglers + The Godfathers
With a genuine aura of danger and cool, The Stranglers begin their 2013 live campaign with an extensive UK tour taking place throughout March.
During their career The Stranglers have garnered a total of 24 Top 40 singles over four decades, as well as eighteen Top 40 albums. Their hits include 'Peaches', 'No More Heroes', '5 Minutes', 'Duchess', 'Something Better Change', 'Always The Sun', 'Golden Brown', 'Strange Little Girl' and 'Skin Deep', amongst others.
The Stranglers released their first new album for six years in March 2012. 'Giants' was critically acclaimed and saw them complete another hugely successful UK tour, quickly followed by 23 dates in Europe. During Summer 2012, the band played V Festivals, Hop Farm and Isle of Wight in the UK, as well as Germany's major festival, Rock Im Ring & Rock Im Park and shows in Estonia, France, Belgium and Turkey.
Seventies punk icons whose rat-infested songs plagued both the album and singles charts through the subsequent decade. Their compounded musical talents and enthusiasm, infused with large doses of charisma and dark notoriety goes more than a little way to explaining why The Stranglers have survived the vagaries of the music business. These days The Stranglers have at their core original members Jean-Jacques Burnel (bass), Dave Greenfield (keyboards), Jet Black (drums) and Baz Warne (guitar), with the lead vocals shared between Warne and Burnel (Burnel singing the songs he originally recorded as lead vocalist, and Warne performingthe numbers originally sang by Hugh Cornwell). 2010 saw the release of a new double CD retrospective, containing at least one track from each of their 16 studio albums. They also released a live DVD and album recorded at Hammersmith Apollo.
The Stranglers tour dates
The Godfathers formed by brothers Peter and Chris Coyne from the ashes of The Sid Presley Experience in 1985. The original line-up did well in the late 80s/early 90s with Worldwide dates and tours but pressures forced the inevitable split. F-fwd to 2010 the brothers reunited with 'Sids' guitarist Del Bartle to hit the road again with a new studio album 'Jukebox Fury'. The band recently underwent more line-up changes & continue to write, record, and perform for the forseeable future.
