Headstock Festival 2010: Ash + Field Music + The Beat + Penguin Cafe Orchestra + Edward II + Nick Harper
Visit www.headstockfestival.com for further information.
Ash
Northern Ireland's favourite sons who hit the big time with their massive debut album '1977'. As part of the mid-nineties Britpop phenomenon, Ash always stood out as the rebels of the genre, making grungy post-rock and anthemic indie, which, to this day, has gained them rave reviews and a strong and loyal following.

Field Music
Field Music brothers Peter and David Brewis, hail from Sunderland. Drawing on influences as wide-ranging as Stravinsky, Stax R n B, Fleetwood Mac, Serge Gainsbourg, Thelonious Monk and Kate Bush, they've become known for a deconstructionist approach to songwriting, playfully twisting compositions into new and odd shapes, with a refreshing disregard for convention and cliché.
Field Music tour dates
The Beat
Ranking Roger, Everett, Saxa and Neil Deathridge combined with Tony O'Donnell, Andy Pearson, Dave 'Blockhead' Wright on keyboards and Roger's son Murphy make up the new The Beat lineup. Combining some of the old classics with some brand new material. Worth going to see live to hear 'Mirror In The Bathroom' in all its glory.
The Beat tour dates
Penguin Cafe Orchestra
The Penguin Cafe Orchestra (PCO) was a collective of performing musicians founded by classically trained British guitarist, composer and arranger Simon Jeffes. Jeffes died in 1997 but members of the original PCO, and his son Arthur, continue to play the music live under various different titles.
A core group of original PCO members have played as 'The Anteaters' and more recently as 'The Orchestra that Fell to Earth' : Geoffrey Richardson, Jennifer Maidman, Steve Fletcher, Annie Whitehead, & Liam Genockey.

Edward II
Featuring a seven-piece line up of melodeon and sax, fiddle and trombone nestling snugly cheek-by-jowl, their repertoire strolls expansively from reworked folk standards like 'Wild Mountain Thyme' or 'La Russe' to Caribbean classics like Gregory Isaacs 'Night Nurse'.
Edward II tour dates
Nick Harper
Son of legendary Roy Harper, Nick Harper has been described as 'One of the finest guitarists of his generation, his soaring vocal range and propensity for epic song place him somewhere between Rufus Wainwright and Jeff Buckley' (Mojo). A folk troubadour, an acoustic balladeer - with a touch of rock 'n' roll on the side. He's not folk. He's emo skiffle. Pastoral hard rock. Progressive soul.
