Iggy & The Stooges
Today's legion of raw bluesy primal rock bands owe it all to the Stooges. Their wild stage shows and trademark sound lasted just over five years (between 1967 and 1973), gaining them little commercial success but a massive cult fanbase. After the group split, frontman Iggy Pop became famous as a solo artist, and this led to more interest in his old band. The Stooges finally reformed in 2003, and amazingly are still able to capture the frenzied youthful excitement of their original live shows.
Iggy & The Stooges tour dates
CocoRosie
CocoRosie are a sister act. One member of the duo has posed for Italian Vogue, and their image (complete with mascara moustaches and beauty marks) suggests a gender-bent Rasputina Live, Bianca's languorous Janis-on-downers voice has a spiky vibrato that saws the air, while Sierra occasionally lets loose an operatic lament.

Built To Spill

Built To Spill tour dates
The Boredoms
Defying categorisation, the Boredom's have been unleashing their experimental rock punk trash surrealism on an increasingly awestruck following for two decades. On their latest release, Vision Creation Newsun they reveal a world of trance-inducing shamanic tribal drums that whilst more accessible than their earlier work, is still suffused with their nihilistic vision of what constitutes music.

The Raincoats
The Raincoats were formed by Ana Da Silva, and Gina Birch in 1977, signed to Rough Trade records, and released their seminal self titled debut album in 1979. They went on to release a further 3 albums before breaking up in 1984, but decided to reform in 1993 following a meeting with Kurt Cobain who had stated that they were his favourite band of all time. While in London in 1992 Kurt had sought out Ana, wrote about the meeting on Nirvana's 'Incesticide' album, and wrote the sleeve notes for the reissue of their first 3 albums. The Raincoats were due to support Nirvana on their 1994 U.K tour, but sadly Kurt died the week before the tour was due to begin.
They also number Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth and Robert Wyatt amongst their fans. The Raincoats have subsequently released one more album, an E.P, and 2 singles and recently toured North America.
