'Can a heart still break, when it's stopped beating?'

Victor and Victoria are due to be married, though they've never actually met. His parents (wealthy and successful fish merchants) are thrilled. Hers (land-rich noble aristocrats) are filled with regret and crippling debts.

In a moment of panic, Victor runs off to the woods to rehearse his wedding vows, and by a grave misunderstanding finds himself mistakenly married to the Corpse Bride. Frightening yet beautiful in equal measure, all that she really lacks is the beat of a heart.

Although life in the Land of the Dead proves to be a lot more colourful and exciting than his strict Victorian upbringing, Victor soon learns that there is nothing in this world (or the next) that can keep him away from his one true love.
